Mitsui Kinzoku Company, Limited (President: Takeshi Nou; “Mitsui Kinzoku”) announces that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Haryana Enterprises Promotion Centre (hereinafter “HEPC”), which is affiliated with the Government of the State of Haryana in the Republic of India, to promote research and development in the fields of green hydrogen production technologies and carbon collection and utilization (CCU) technologies.
Centered on its purpose, “We promote the well-being of the world through a spirit of exploration and diverse technologies,” Mitsui Kinzoku is working to create new businesses that contribute to the establishment of a sustainable society by fusing the external powers (customers, partner companies, universities, etc.) with the company’s own strengths (core technologies/know-how/sales channels).
India is promoting a national strategy of transforming itself into a global green hydrogen hub. It is attracting global attention as a future hydrogen producer and consumer. In December 2023, Mitsui Kinzoku began to partner with the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in the joint development of an electrode for a water electrolyzer with the goal of producing green hydrogen, and it has been implementing a pilot project involving a small CCU system in India and other activities. Through these efforts, Mitsui Kinzoku has been proactively developing green hydrogen and decarbonization technologies using green hydrogen in India.
Mitsui Kinzoku’s subsidiary Mitsui Kinzoku Components India Private Limited (MKCI) has its base in Haryana, which has been a major destination attracting Japanese companies for many years. Mitsui Kinzoku and HEPC have signed this MOU to establish a framework for collaboration, because industrial development in Haryana is important for both companies, and further, they have a common interest in green hydrogen production and CCU technologies.
Mitsui Kinzoku will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by implementing its vision for 2030, “Building new businesses -and the future- with our material intelligence,” based on its purpose, “We promote the well-being of the world through a spirit of exploration and diverse technologies.”
