Mitsui Kinzoku Company, Limited (President: Takeshi Nou; “Mitsui Kinzoku”) announces that it has decided to introduce equipment for the mass trial production of functional porous materials at the FPM Business Promotion Unit established within the Business Creation Sector.
As announced in the Strengthening System to Promote Functional Porous Materials Business news release dated October 8, 2025, Mitsui Kinzoku has been strengthening its system to promote themes related to functional porous materials. However, in response to an increasing number of requests for medium-volume production trial projects from customers who are evaluating samples, the company has decided to introduce mass trial production equipment to be able to respond promptly to various requests from customers in the second half of FY2026. This will follow the increase of production using the pilot test equipment that is planned to be installed in the first half of 2026.
The functional porous materials we are developing are solid materials with microscopic pores. By using surface treatments to select and control the composition, crystalline structure and pore structure of the materials, etc., we achieve the transformation of substances through the adsorption, separation and concentration of gases and ions, and enable the materials to have catalytic functions. The introduction of the mass trial production equipment will facilitate the larger-scale trial production of various porous materials. Through this initiative, Mitsui Kinzoku aims to strengthen the system that enables it to respond speedily to customers’ requests regarding productization and facilitate the provision of solutions to market issues.
Mitsui Kinzoku will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by implementing its vision for 2030, “Building new businesses -and the future- with our material intelligence,” based on its purpose, “We promote the well-being of the world through a spirit of exploration and diverse technologies.”
